The Hoeflon C10

I'm no authority on the subject, but I haven't seen it as an offered option from Hoeflon. If you're looking for a spider crane with grapple capability, I'd suggest checking into the Effer crawler models.
I’ve seen some of the other crawler ones like the one Canary Tree did but theirs is so heavy I feel like it’s purpose is somewhat defeated…

again, I haven’t done my research on these but maybe it’s time to do so…I just think this sized unit with even just the t220 mecanil tilt grapple (~300lbs I think) would be pretty functional

It’s possible to set up a very small grapple using radio controlled diver tees to alter the last main remote levers from jib up/down telescope/retract to grapple rotateL/R and grapple open/close.

You couldn’t run a grapplesaw unless you removed the jib and figured out how to trick the crane into thinking it was still connected. A hydraulics wizard could probably work this out. Otherwise, you could buy one of these:

Boy that is the weirdest looking device ever. Put some spikes on the end and pick up wood. That would probably torque the crane in very weired ways. Looks very expensive!

I think the idea would be to grab as close to the perfect balance point as possible to prevent any abnormal forces the boom wasn’t designed to handle.

Today I subbed with another company to knock out a couple things out of reach for his crane. This was the second property of the day, a huge limb that failed and snagged in some smaller trees along the sidewalk. The LMI read about 1,800lbs. Nice to have this little articulating jib to bring it in underneath the remainder of the crown. The safety line he set in it became a tag line to steer the brush out of the other tops as it came in.

Nice little footprint for setups within a driveway. 1,200 pounds of top pulled clear, in and out in 20 minutes. Thankfullyni didn’t have to crawl around in the multiflora rose hedge it sat in.

I had the pleasure of working at a local arboretum today. There was a large hanger in a Toon Tree, cleaned up an adjacent Pecan, climbed a good sized Norway and pieced out three large snagged tops, dismantled a dying Sequoia, and pruned out a Manchurian Walnut. Got some shots of the Sequoia coming apart. As the caretaker said today, “not too many people east of the Mississippi get to say they cut down one of these.”
