thanks dan kraus

I'd like to say thanks to dan kraus over at catinatreerescue.com for setting up such a great website. I've been getting numerous phone calls over the past couple of weeks and have been able to really help out familys desperate to get there cats back. (it also puts a little extra jingle in my pocket as well)

Nothing feels better then to help those who can't help themselves and Dan has made this possible for me. Thanks brother.

No, but he does get paid. Do ya think they would do it for free?

[/ QUOTE ]

I know some guys that would but your point is made. I give big discounts and do it free sometimes when I feel like the owner needs a break but I charge most folks and they're always happy to pay. The main thing is to be upfront about it.

Usually it's not a lifesaving service for the cat, it's a peace of mind saving service rendered to the owner... which is good since cats are usually short of cash.

Vollies dont get paid.

Hey you 2 could open an ice cream stand, one sell it, and the other bump and knocks it out the little kids hand soon as it walks away from the stand. Dad has to buy another cuase the kid dropped it and wont stop crying.

this is where he tells you he is a volunteer fireman and he doesnt get paid, blahblahblah

the fireman were called and they opted out of the job, would have taken them all of five seconds to help but i guess they were on a beer run so i stepped up, used my skill and gear and both parties left satisfied with the results, sure they were 75bucks lighter but at least they had a member of there family back and i was able to rejoin my family in an hours time.

seeing that you would do it at no charge feel free to leave me your number and ill call ya when the next cat gets stuck and you can come fish it out. Or you could always register on the site and run around doing freebies, it would be nice to have the load lightened a bit. I'll find the info if you really want it, or are you just looking to bust chops?

What's up with you Holly? I guess you remove all hazard wood and trees for nothing then... I mean, since we're not any drawing any lines right?

Nabbing cats is fun. If it wasn't, I'd charge even more but it takes time and it can be risky. Some will run you around the tree for an hour before you corner'em, at which ponit you may be in a really thin little spot with no way to balance and a pointy, squirmy, biting cat in one hand. If that ain't worth a paycheck what is?

I have no more problem charging for a cat than I do a big hanger over a sidewalk.

Yup, Thanks Dan. I got 3 rescues from the site. The first one I did for tip because it was my first one. The next ones after that are about 75-125 depending on my drive time.

cats.......I had two this year. Thanks danno

I think I prefer bees now

I don't know man. It could be easier because they fly toward you but, the fact that they fly toward you with the intensions to hopefully kill you....

I'll stick with the angry cats all day. At least you can shake a cat if they get a bit "grabby"

I was listed at Dan's web site but I pulled out. I did about a dozen rescues but got tired of neurotic cat owners!

Nothing up!!! Wasn't even looking for a bicker. I just find it funny to charge for a cat recuse. I do them local I don't chase around for them. FD's in town have my number should someone call they give it. Or they use 1 of the other guys in town, never heard of them charging either. After I hand them their cat I give'em bout 5 cards say no thanks to money even if offered. I almost always have a new customer latter when they need work done.

Can I ask this to the famed rescue squad?? You are charging to get the cat, should you drop, scare it to the point it just bails, or (hehe) throw the thing cuase it's about to scratch your eyes out. What do you do now? I mean for the mental anguish you just cuase some 5 yr old girl who has grown up with it. Can you be sued for it since you put a price on it? It's now a binding contract, no? Ok mama I'll get your cat but it will be $75 to $125 or more. Yes Yes please anything my kid is so upset. Can they sue you? If so will insur pay? I've never seen a policy that states saving cats is tree work.

heyyyyyy!!!!! dose a fireman charge you to get you out of a burning house?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes they do charge you. Well...the government taxes us, then gives some of that money to the fire fighters.

In all seriousness, I must agree... THANKS DAN!!!!! . I do charge for cat rescues and the money is a nice occasional bonus. But mostly I enjoy the challenge and of course it's nice to drive away having helped someone out.

catinatreerescue.com is a very cool website that makes people happy.

And the nerve of those damn doctors and vets that charge you for saving your life or your animals!

As for being sued. Like everything else we do it is a risk. For some this is a business opportunity others can do it for free. It's all cool. My doctor does both as well.

OK, I took you wrong... sure seemed like you were.

I'm doing three or four cats a month, one month it was nine. Would you do that for free? Like Scotty says, it's bread on the table.

See, it's the cat owners that you're rescuing, not the cats... at least usually. Owning a cat isn't free.
