was wondering about making a friction saver out of tenex with the large n small rings move uo to a cacoon someday.
just did my first splice came out nice any help appreciated
Nick thanx for the insight the other day
I have a 'ring Sling' like that except the big ring is a biner. Jose Mercado made it using his special Flamingo Amsteel. It's VERY nice.
I gotta believe that Tenex will pick really bad if you install from the ground often.
The BEST cambium saver I ever used is the ABR Modular Cambium Saver. It's a traditional Ring/ring with a secret weapon as the adjuster. The body is made from Hi-Vee and the weapon is Ocean poly. It's also no longer available because of a lame... LAME patent dispute.
I made one with the small ring in the adjustable lope and biner in the dead eye out of Sampson Ice. I made it to long enough to double as my foot locking prusic.
If you want to make a fixed FS out of Tenex Tec, you can always put a nylon tube webbing sleeve over it to help protect against "picking". I've had this 1 for years and you can see how much it gets used. I used it just last Friday.
NOTE: stitch each end of the webbing to the body of the FS to keep it from bunching up.
I just want you all to know that I had the 1/4 adjustable pink flamingo ringed friction saver WAAAYYY before Chip did.
I picked mine and like a dum arse I made it worse by screwing with it.
heres the one I ended up making. then ended up shortening it so i could use it every day. and then made an extension with another small ring i can girth hitch to the first small ring to go as big as need be
I'm wanting to splice up a custom piece of tenex for my SRT set up, wanting to splice a single piece of rope from hand accender going down to adjustable foot loop, as well as a 3rd central attachment point for my chest accender and bridge connection... hope that makes sense.
I know there's some pics about of these tenex splices, my question is anyone know where to get instructions from?
Any tips would be good cheers guys!
Craig, before i got my uni i made a whoopie sling for my handled asceneder to connect to my bridge. the piece that connected to my bridge was where the back splice usually is, and the eye that adjusts was the top connection to my ascender.
