Thanks I was looking through that I just used to have a chart that said bury x amount for 1/2” x amount for 5/8” x amount for 3/4” etc
They have a chart which converts fid measurements to inches some where on their site. Look it up for your self (don’t trust me) but a fid is 23 rope diametersThanks I was looking through that I just used to have a chart that said bury x amount for 1/2” x amount for 5/8” x amount for 3/4” etc
Didn’t see your post. Go with this! A whoopie or loopie is something like 2 or 2.5 fids.Depends on the type of splice you intend on doing. Are you doing a locked brummel or just a straight bury? There has been much debate on the length of bury for a locked brummel, however, I believe the consensus may have been a long fid to full fid. Some people have also suggested a short fid was sufficient, but I like to err on the side of caution. As for a straight bury, I believe 2 fid lenghts is the recommended distance. As a reminder a fid length is 21x rope diameter a long fid is 14x rope diameter and a short fid is 7x rope diameter. This is all off the top of my non professional splicers brain so there are definitely better people suited to chime in on this. Best of luck and have fun

Shit we have to build a wall up there too?The Canadian in me finds it much easier to do the math in millimetres. 10 mm = 1 cm. 13 mm rope (1/2") x 21 = 273 or 27.3 cm. 2.54 cm in an inch...27.3/2.54 = 10 3/4" fid length
