telluride road trip

In bounds avalanch buried two skiers today. I heard they both survived. There will be a posting regarding that on the colorado avalanch info website if interested

It must be awesome to live there, if you are a nature lover. I've visited only once, 4 yrs ago, and it was love at first sight. Skied at Vail and Copper, snowshoed alot in the surrounding woods. The only other place out west I've been in winter is Utah, and Col had it beat by alot,IMO.

SWEET! thanks man! I'm glad to see I'm not the only guy around here with a mostly grey goat!!? I'll bet the terrains awesome out there huh?

skew - Thanks for the pics! I gotta admit though, I'm a bit jealous!

taitree - I feel your pain about NJ (and the goat). 2 1/2 hrs to the Pocanos, 5-6 hrs to VT. Okemo just got 2 ft. of snow, almost 100% open. I'm chompin' at the bit to hit the slopes!

we got hammered again last night with another foot + of light dry stuff. I am screwed for tree work for now. I am sufficiently recovered from t-ride to go check out the local hill today. It should be snorkeling weather!

WC usually has the largest base in Co. (and is reporting 27 new today!) Telluride is also sitting pretty right now. http://skicentral.com/rpt-colorado.html

Nice, Tom.

Back in ~'99, I hit T-Ride after driving from Taos. What a great trip....Red Mt Pass rules!

I see they've opened yet another high alpine area.....

Last Friday, was awesome here in Wa. 30-40" of 3-4% blower, and untracked. Crystal Mt rules when it's cold and deep.
Some scenics here....it was too cold and too good to get any action shots.

An inbounds slide claimed a life of a young local Utah woman last week at Snowbird.....on an open High Baldy run, which had been controlled that morning.. Tragic, and extremely rare.

I've skiied it. It is a rather exposed long face, which funnels into chutes mid slope.
