Tachyon vs. Class I Double Braid

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that New England Ropes instructions for a Tachyon eye splice is opposite from Samsons Class I Double Braid ( core into cover first vs cover into core first). Is it allowable to use Class I DB with Sherril's Lava (aka Tachyon) or does it not fit in that class, how is the finished product different.

Also, I am having the toughest time completing the crossover with either method, any tips or suggestions?

Tachyon is considered a triple braid (based off of their instructions). I believe lava is constructed the same way just different colors so therefore you cant use the class I double braid instructions in the samson manual. It doesnt really matter which tuck goes first (core into cover or cover into core). It depends on whos doing it. I find it easier to do the core into cover because you dont have to worry about the cover coming out of the core when your trying to do it. (hopefully that makes sense)

As for finishing your cross over, are you having trouble burying it? (buldging when going in?) you can try putting a couple stitches through it to keep it together, tight and small. Also, holding the eye tight as your burying, it keeps it from building slack as its getting buried.

Hopefully this helps. let me know, maybe someone else will explain better.

The tachyon (aka Lava) splicing directions according to NE Ropes are, for all intensive purposes, identical to the samson class I double braid splice. The only real difference is that in the tachyon directions, they have you snip the inner core short at one particular spot.

And yes, core first or cover first, the finished product is the same.

The "crossover" I was referring to was when following Class I Dbl Braid instructions, burying core into cover with core at the throat of the eye to be (step 7 in the Samson instructions). I finally had good luck with a wire fid today. Haven't gotten to finish yet hopefully the rest will go easily.

I just want to add one thing. The purple strands, after trimming, should overlap with the cover which is buried in the white core. It keeps the innermost strands, which hold the shape of the rope, from creeping during use. I hope I didn't confuse anyone with that.
