tachyon use with rope wrench

I am using Tachyon(lava) with the rope wrench. The rope has developed flat spots where the wrench activates on the rope. Has anyone else experienced this? I am using a 5 wrap Michoacan with HRC, a hitch climber and an oceans tether. My friction hitch sets well prior to the rope wrench engaging and everything works fine just not sure why I get these spots. The rope seems to harden and flatten permanently in these spots. I have tried massaging them out and working the fibers to no avail. Any ideas?

Is there any pitch on your line?
How long has the rope been in service?
If you compress the fibers (as if you were trying to shorten your rope), do the spots disappear?
The Rope Runner can have a similar effect, but I've never found it to harden things out, or become a problem. Once I bag up my line a pull it out for the next use, it's all rounded out again.

I've used the wrench with tachyon since I got a wrench over a year ago. Any flattening I've experienced has been soft and temporary. I would wonder if there is not another contributing factor like oceans mentioned above. Pitch would be my first guess as well, followed by age

Thanks. The rope has been in service 7months. Pitch is not the problem. I will try the suggestion of compressing the fibers. I appreciate your feedback and will let you know how it works out tomorrow.

Hmm, my Tachyon is 2 years-old, recently full of pitch, been using it with a ZK-2 Rope Wrench for a while, no flattening happening. Then again I weigh approximately less than bread loaf. -AJ

I have not noticed any permanent affected spots on my Tachyon, but have a bit of temporary odd spots. I am 180 with a VT and hitch climber and oceans tether etc.
