I was lucky enough to obtain and dissect the 'slaice' splice today.

I documented 24 photos, will post them all if there is any interest in the construction.

The core of the eye is dyneema.

I have now worked out how achieve a safer and better splice, which has the same flexibility with no need for stitches or whipping.

Teufelberger can give me a call when they are ready

well I really want Teufelberger to get in touch, and offer them the splicing trick for a fee, so I cant give the game away just yet.

Of course I tested it, 577kg shock loading....going out dismantling tomorrow, to do some tricks...

What I have done is add a cord that 3000kgs...that plus the cover....its sure fire winner.

Why would you want it to fit through the ZZ? Couldn't you just thread the bitter end of your line through?

Yes but you have to pull ALL your line through every time you want it on/off

I checked the zigzag, a shame that the top pieces are so tight, it would not go though, big mistake by petzl.

I have not break tested yet, but I know my stuff, so waiting for the reply etc.

Yes but you have to pull ALL your line through every time you want it on/off

Have your cake and eat it too.
Climb SRT on the "bitter end" and leave the ZZ on the spiced end.
Think about starting/working from the middle of your rope and leave the ends for other options.

At least that "mistake" was done on purpose.

I'm a lockjack fan, I don't rate the zigzag, because of my thoughts before its was made and the faults came true.

So did you break test it? Seems to be conflicting answers to that question in this thread. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, which is a definite possibility considering I'm very new to splicing.
