Swivel???

not to hijack this thread but since the pic is just a few posts up i will write this here....Tom, when you talk of "gate clash" whats the difference between a gate occasionally bumbing a gate and a spine bumping a gate. In either orientation the gates are going to bump something (in the setup in the previous pic with one crab directly over another) if two rings or swivels are used on the bridge to horizontally seperate the two crabs then opposing the orientaion of the gates to each other makes sense.

If a bump is going to take place when both gates are together then the bump will always involve two gates. To me it would seem more likely to have a gate become compromised in that configuration. If a gate hit a spine then it would seem to reduce the chance of a gate failing by half. Maybe not...I'm not a statics whiz ha ha ha!
