Swinging in the Palms

About the poor souls who choose to climb under skirts, its suicide. I also think the homeowners who hire them contract these deaths and are just as much to blame. They know the risk but still want a thousand dollars worth for a dime.

The other day I was doing some palms. I had thousands of pounds of Thorny (Alligator like ,seratted edged, tooth Philipheras/ Robustas/ and spiny dates) on the ground. I was reppelling down off of one on my adjustable friction saver, taking advantage of my 60 foot tie in to take some wide swings to some other palms below. As I was trimming one, I hear from below, "Hey...." I shut off my saw and zipped to the ground to find a spandex clad yuppie white collar trash a-hole on a 2 thousand dollar bicycle wanting a bid. I didnt know he was an A hole yet. He procedeeded to tell me that his wife saw me working and that she wanted him to stop and ask for a bid their palms. He says to me, " How much do ya charge? I took off my helmet and plucked a palm grub from the back of my neck as I replied," Oh about 60 bucks a tree" I thought the dude was going to fall off his bike as he gasped for air. "Wow" ,he said, "how much for Dates? "Anywhere from 50 to 500 depending upon the tree, location, ect."

The next thing out of his mouth ruined my day.

"Thats why I hire the Mexicans" ,he says

It got ugly after that and everything is kind of a blur.

I know I called him an a-hole. He then said "If I were 20 years younger...bla bla bla...yadda yadda yadda"

I turned green and my shirt ripped as I transformed into Lou Ferigno.

Luckily for him he rode away.

I went hulk not ONLY because he is a racist, but more so because he has no concern for the safty of the men and women who trim trees.

Him and others like him are just as much to blame for these deaths as the poor slobs who choose to climb under the skirt.

Damn Jesse, I was wondering what got to you yesterday. People like that are foul and I tend to want beat them with a baseball bat... for starters.

I get angry like that too with over-educated, over-paid morons whose only concern is how cheap they can get something for.

Deep breaths are it, fact is, they aren't worth your energy. Next time take the alpha stance and ignore them the second they make that kind of remark. If they still try to talk to you give'em nothing but a quick Shhh! without even looking at'em. ...it REALLY pisses them off. People like that can't bear to be ignored.

I still think $60 a climb is waaay low. It must be hyper-competitive there.

LOL, Jesse, glad ya didn't prune that guy up with a saw! I've had clients ask those sort of questions, BUT we don't have minorities here to get the racial thing going.
