Super classic pain in the ass.

So I bought a HAAS kit from Treestuff, com with the super classic foot ascender. So far I'm not very impressed with it at all, it will not advance up my line until I have 15+ feet of slack beneath it no matter what angle or position I put my foot in. I feel like the spring might be too tight?? Is that even possible?

Any tips on perhaps loosening the spring so that it will advance up the line under 10 feet? The HAAS system works fantastic, the ascender does not.

What size rope are you climbing on? I went from half inch arbormaster to 11mm kernmaster and it was a night and day difference. I use a Pantin which I believe the super classic was designed after.

I'm on Yale poison ivy 11.7mm
Im on the same exact rope and climb w a ct quickstep and the haas. And im smooth sailing. Some times il have a co worker hold my line steady or il put weight on the rope below my feet, very rarely i need to do either though. No experience messing w the spring sorry

Are you familiar with pointing your toe down in order to get least resistance from the cam?

That was the only way I could move up past the 15 foot mark, I did everything but strap the damn thing to my forehead to make it work! Discovered the toe down and kick back instead of forward method pretty quickly, but it was still quite unreliable, sometimes it would work but most of the time the ascender would just bite and not let go.

I think that think has a really tight spring , send it back and get the CT
I think that's going to be my next plan of attack, fiddling with the spring seems like it would just piss me off more. I'll give it another honest go when I have some time tomorrow to tweak the ascender position on my boot and the foot position tomorrow.

At the bottom you have to really exaggerate tat motion and take short strides until there is some rope weight below the cam

When I used it ddrt I would take 4-5 footlocks then put ascenders on or have someone hold my tail and like Levi says short steps to start
