Suggestions on a new climbing saddle???

i am a working arborist and will be in the market for a new one this summer. i was looking at buy a Glide Lite by Buckingham. any suggestions or comments would be helpful.

Cheers.

The ergovation is great if you want to stick with the company and the "beefyness" of the saddle. It is a little bit heavier but you can't tell when you wear it. The insert back pad is GREAT.

TreeFlex makes me happy!

It is one of the few harnesses that will work well with SRT and still function as a traditional leg loop, sliding bridge too.

I agree totally, though Don Blair's new Bry-Dan saddle is a true workhorse too.

im a petzl sequoia man. i tried the ergo but couldnt get comfy with it or adjust to the extra weight. ive heard alot of guys complain about leg strap pinching with the glide lite.

I would get to a show where you can sit in a bunch of different types and see which fits best for you. Keeping in mind evryone has different body configurations and work applications. Someone doing mostly pruning with good TIP and light equipment will have different needs than someone doing removals with heavy equipment attatched to the harness and quite often not a high TIP. both situations act differently on the hips when applying force to the harness and person in it.
Start a list of what you do and dont like about your current harness and go from there.

Thanks everyone for all the feed back so for and its great to hear back form people in the know.

Versarile - Classic by Buckingham is the the saddle i climb with at the moment. its the only saddle i've ever owned and i have found its good all around but i just feel there is something lacking in the performance. As a climber i split my days with prunning and removals.

i really feel the lack of support on big removals. at the end of those days its just painful.

Anywho, i guess i'm looking for the best of both worlds with prunning and removals.

my price range is $500 give or take a few bucks.

Oh and any suggestions on where to get one? i've been shopping around and really don't want to go through Sherrilltree. no ofence to them but it seems that they have marked up their prices something fierce.

i work and live the southern Ontario Canada.

Cheers

Have you gone to the Vermeer location in Brampton? They have saddles and a line you can try them out on in the store. What Sherrill does have is a price guarantee that will give you a huge break if they have marked up compared to the rest of the competition. They'll give you the comp price less 50% of the difference. I've used it a couple of times and came out way ahead. The item has to be identical in every way.

I climb with a Glide 2, at first it seemed a little heavy and hard to keep up around my waist with a larger saw, but I got a pair of suspenders from sherill and now its a very well balanced belt for pruning and removals. This fall I also bought the lower half of a Buckingham Versatile with a batten seat and I take the leg straps off and put it on when I'm cabling or something where I'm sitting for a long time.

One of my co-workers has a couger and he really likes it, its sort of a heavier duty version of the glide, but unfortunatly its too small for me so I can't give you a good opinion.

I climb on the glide lite 2. I used to climb on a german edelrid tree majic, and they are similar. Except there are clips on the leg loops of the glide. Very nice comfortable, lightweight sadle. No complaints here.

I have two butterfly II's. Love em. I also have a couger but I havent used it because one of the other guys use it. Im trying to save up enough to get the ergovation. Might be a while though.

Yeah real busy with this storm-guess it makes up for being real slow for a while.I still like the tree motion its really comfy never tried the glide light though.

I heard they are trying to get the cost down.

I'm in the market for a new fall arrest/ bucket harness and thought it would be nice to be able to easily transfer onto a rope. As far as I understand here in Canada the FA has to be permanently attached...
Also looks easy to add on a floating bridge.
