Subcontractor's Blues

Thanks Riggs,

Lesson learned. Now I get everything in writing before I spend any time.

One of my problems is that I have worked with many honest people. The type that their word is good. Not good business though. Will get it in writing up front.

Tim,

The writting will help with some people but with the seasoned pros it won't help. Once had a signed contract with
a seasoned pro, two lawyers said it was a solid contract. Short version, would have cost 2x's what was owed in appeals not to mention lost time. The pros know how to work the court system to there advantage.

Thanks Eric,

My brother went through the same thing. Had a contract that said if he was terminated for any reason the company would pay him a certain amount of money.

The fired him and said that they could spend much more money in court than he could.

I am working on working with other companies in the area to see about completing the training grant. We'll see what happens.

Thank you to everyone who made suggestions.

PS If you haven't been to Colorado, you need to do so. I took a drive through Poudre River Canyon today after I finished my second talk. An amazing place, next time I come out, I will be spending more time here.
