They're definitely here in Florida. I've seen Craigslists ads here with the same premise, although they didn't want you to PAY for the wood. This one definitely sets the bar!

sweet gum gets milled for telephone poles and railroad ties from what i've heard. last years some dude in the sticks contracted us to log about 25 4' dbh sweetgums from his heavily wooded lot. said he was getting big bucks. don't know about that but the boss said it paid well.

Totally unrelated to cutting down a ton of trees, but by far the stupidest thing I have heard in a while. (This is the tree free zone, and the title is stupid, stupid, stupid, so I feel justified)
Today I am giving a test in my bio class on plant and animal diveristy. I had a student raise his hand. I come over, he points to a bat in a glass jar, and asks "is this a bird or mammal?" I lost it. I try to stay calm, and in good teacher voice say "well, look at it, think about characteristics of birds, then of mammals, and try to descide, ok?" College freshman.
Today I am giving a test in my bio class on plant and animal diveristy. I had a student raise his hand. I come over, he points to a bat in a glass jar, and asks "is this a bird or mammal?" I lost it.
