Stump grinders

Looking at purchasing my first stump grinder. I am sick of renting and the headache that goes along with it.
Machines I am considering right now are;
1- vermeer 252
2- vermeer 352/372
3- carlton 4012 (3 different engine options, 27hp gas, 35 hp gas, and 37 hp diesel)

I know I want a machine that will fit into a backyard. I am planning on buying new. I am trying to decide on how much I really need and trying to figure out what is the best bang for my buck. For example, I know the 352 is a lot better than the 252 but the cost is almost double. Just want to hear opinoins.

I know you said you wanted new, but we got our 252 last year from United Rental. It has about 700 hours on it and came with a trailer. Cost was $5k. We have not had a single problem with the machine since we got it. It was the best purchase we made since starting our company. Dont rule out used if you can find the right machine.

I have owned 3 of the small walk beside machines over the last 26 years - the Vermeer and Rayco 25Hp and the Carlton 27Hp, in that order

The last one on the list is a much better machine than the first 2.

Here is my 38HP grinder outperforms my old Carlton 27hp (duh, and less money) and the mini moves brush and logs also.

You can get into the whole package ~~ for around 27K, (Depending on Mini loader)
