Storms hit down...

Location
Texas
Did anyone else get hit with the storms last night? They ripped through here around mid-night and it sounded like the roof was going to blow off. Winds hit 80 mph in areas, we just got power back. Walked outside early this morning to find tree branches in everyones yard. Went to do a clean-up and bid on a job today (40+ ft.) oak, up-rooted and went right through the roof of both the owners home and the neighbors home.

Anyone else get hit last night?

Nothing that big in my area. We got weather yesterday but nothing out that I saw today.

I feel like we're in a world of hurt down here in Texas. Glad to here things were okay up there for you. It seems like it was just yesterday we lost over a million trees due to drought. Now fast forward three years later and were losing trees to too much water. It's crazy how the weather changes completely so fast.

We had a tornado 4 weeks ago tomorrow night. We've been slammed with work and will be for the next couple weeks.

Lumberjack,

Glad to hear you are safe from the tornados. I've been through my fair share of them, defiantly not fun to experience. Stay safe and enjoy the busy time and make lots of money!

Quick question for you and others being that I'm getting more into tree work. Do you guys charge a lot more after situations like the above mentioned?

Reason I asked, I bidded the job today at nearly 2.5 x what I would have charged to remove the tree if it were standing. Reason being, hazard. It was going to take lots of rigging and extra time to get this large tree off of these two roofs safely without causing further damage. I made sure to leave a bid with verifiable insurance information and I explained to the homeowner this wouldn't be a job for Johnny and a chainsaw with no insurance.

Hopefully I didn't come out way too high.

We had some crazy weather here in eastern Nebraska last night. Reports of a tornado touching down in the middle of Omaha. ..Kinda crazy. Didn't do much damage I don't think but we got extremely lucky. Had some flooding through the middle of a couple small towns. Reports of quarter to baseball size hail about 20 minutes away, haven't looked into that much yet though.
