Stihl MS241 (I’m in love)

It’s great but I only use it for big stuff which doesn’t come around as often. I thought I would sell my 660 but it’s more convenient to not have to swap the bars out.

Good to hear.
I ended up snagging another 661, not sure why, but why not lol.
I used my 241C four five straight days on our disaster relief deployment in southeast Texas. The hour meter showed 7.2 hours more when I left. We had to leave early because hurricane delta was coming in. Those poor folks got a double whammy. Anyway the saw was more than I expected. It is a cutting devil for its weight.
Sounds like a great saw ;).

I was at the John Deere dealer getting a fuel filter for my tractor and stopped by the Stihl display. There sat a brand new MS 241C. If I didn’t already have one I would have bought it on the spot.

I guess I’m sounding like a broken record about my 241, but I’m half way through another disaster relief deployment and have been using it a whole bunch. It is indeed a Tasmanian devil. The ciputting saw I’ve ever seen for its weight. Lovin’ it. I’ve used in the bucket for almost everything a have used it 90% of the time while on the ground. I paid a premium price, but it’s a premium saw. Cant say enough about it.

I dont think I would climb with it, but it’s great in a bucket. If it’s in the bucket with my 200T, I find myself using it more and more instead of the 200T.

Our disaster relief crew went on a quick job this past Tuesday. It was much different than the tornado/hurricane deployments we typically do, so we were in a large crew doing a lot of ground work, felling, limbing and hauling off rather than hangars, downed trees and trees on houses. I ended up working around guys that haven’t seen me with the 241 and haven’t used it. They were noticing that I was outcutting them and were making comments. Before the job was finished almost all of them had a go with it. They were impressed.

We have a trailer full of saws and they have been skeptical about why I bother to bring my own. They now know why I do. The 241 on anything it’s big enough to handle will outcut any other saw in the trailer and they all now know that.

I kinda miss it, good thing is I snagged up another nice 346 last week to ease the pain lol.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread. Anyone been able to sniff one of these out lately?

local arb supply shop didn’t even know it too well.

241c was discontinued awhile back unfortunately ... intake mods, porting, and exhaust mods make em into little rippers. Here’s one I modded (originally a hotsaws101) a bit further thru hard maple : enjoy ....

Mine came from eBay, I had to wait a little while for a clean one to come along from a reputable seller. I bid the most I was willing to spend when there was like 3 seconds left in the auction.
I think I got it for around 310$ and was willing to spend 390$.

I love this saw, but if one had come along on eBay before this, I would’ve bid on a rear handle MS200 or MS201. (The 200 would probably go for a stupid high price though) Reckon the rear handle MS201 with M-tronic carb would be pretty similar.

Well i do disaster relief so my posts here usually only happen when I’m doing my volunteer work after a storm.

I’m on Hurricane Ida working mostly in the bucket. Used the 241 and the 200T yesterday a lot and fell in love with both all over again. They’re both incredible.

I get lots of observation while up there. I needed to drop a pretty darn big branch and I heard someone yell my name. He had gotten a big saw out of the trailer and was holding it up telling me I would need it for that cut. I said “well let’s try this first.” The 241 went through it like a hot knife through butter and he just walked back to the trailer with the big saw.

That’s how the Tasmanian Devil introduces itself sometimes. It’s a little stick of dynamite.
