Sticht Hitch

Unsure if this is the proper way to post this, but figured I might post a video of tying it.

Not a good matchup of hitch chord to ring size, but this is the most basic sticht form. Stopper knot can go other places, I just like how short it is when placed here.

Also ignore unset single overhand stopper knot, use double :b

I am now schooled (grade-schooled, maybe) in the sticht hitch. But my initial thought is, it would B difficult 4 me to try this, cause it seems like it requires an elongated prusik tail. the Tyrannosaur has a hard enough time reaching his friction hitch to begin with. i don't think i'd B able to reach it once i found myself hanging in a recumbant position.

My eye-to-eye prusik tails are 28", which barely leaves enough legs coming off a VT to properly clip in and function w/a DMM HC pulley.

I also have to keep a close watch on the adjustment of the web straps on my Treemotion EVO, and make sure the attachment points stay close. But I have spare rings in various sizes so I may try it on a rec climb, just fudda ha-ha's

I get them from Ace hardware, water pipe, sections of old faucets, or something similar to eliminate the unneeded friction from the twist on the rope.

I’ll have to look around. Been running it with just the twists on my lanyard/secondary but would like to try with the bushing. I’m really liking it so far! Thanks for putting this out there bud!

This hitch has come up in a couple other threads, Hitch Hiker Length, and Lanyard Adjuster.
Thanks to those who are trying this hitch and giving feedback on their experiences.

@JontreeHI, there might be binding due to the legs being too short to allow the ring to be positioned farther down from the wraps. Another possibility is the rope you’re using. Looking at your pictures it looks like it flattens easily, I’ve only used HTP, perhaps that makes a difference. Maybe try one less wrap to get more leg length to get more adjustment.

@climbstihl, the binding while tending has happened to me. I’ve found that when it first starts to bind, stop pulling and then the second attempt at tending will make it slide easily.
I'm using this hitch for SRS with a 30' beeline cord and poisen ivy rope. Works absolutely wonderful, you sir have made the rope wrench obsolete.

Good to hear feedback on it, thanks! It allows people to experience SRT without much investment.
Someone from another forum figured out a way to tie the Sticht with a loop, just need the end of the rope. A tube tender can’t be used, so I came up with a short piece of cover, enlarged some on each end to keep it in place. Tried a few versions.

I'm not sure what you mean by tied with a loop using the end of the rope. Can you direct me to right forum to see that?
