Sthil MS441 or Huskie 572xp x-torq

My dearest friend a huskie 254xp has just ‘retired’. 28 years together.

Which saw to replace it with - and may be used in the tree for big takedowns?

I frequently cut timber 30”

Fix the old retired girl up! You won’t find a saw as nice and trouble free. We replaced my 254xp with a 562 xp. Kick ass saw, just doesn’t like the transition from cold to warm days. But it works itself out in a week or so. Without mods I think the 562 will give the 441 a really good run for its money!

I think you are right. Taking it for a proper service. The issue is that it starts cold fine but as soon as it is hot and stopped I struggle to start it. When hot, I can only start it by giving some throttle.

Gas tank vent? Needs new carburetor?

It’s been a question that has been asked to husky and no really good solution has been found (from my perspective at least). The best thing I have found is during the transition period the saw never gets set in the direct sunlight and prevents most of the problems. It’s gotta be a computer issue because when my 562 is acting up the 550 runs great. When the 562 starts to straighten out the 550 acts up. And in a week or so everything is back to normal. Someone mentioned winter fuel transition to summer fuelas well but I haven’t done any research on that theory yet.
