STERLING RIT 500

I have been checking out prussik rope material and I have found this rope called R I T 500 it is a fire mans escape line. The 500 is an 8mm nylon cord aramid and Kevlar sheath with tensile strength of 4900lbs and is heat resistant to 500*f It is surposed to hold knots well which is my only worry and 69 cents a foot:With this sort of heat resistants
it should take along time to wear out if ever.I have seen the nomax outer sheath fed with 6mm core but I am just wondering if anyone has come across this line or is using it.anyone know about this !!!!!!!This will save a fortune on prussik rope if its as good as it seems

The biggest problem I've had with high strength 8mm ropes is the stiffness. Regardless of what Lovey says, the 8mm works just fine. I've been using 8mm New England Sta-Set (double braid polyester) for over a year and it handles great. Cheap too, which is good since it isn't so heat resistent on those long fast descents. I've tried a few different high-heat and high-strength lines and they are all too stiff to grab well. If you find this stuff be sure to let us know if it is flexible enough to grab the lifeline easily.
