Stein dual VS. GRCS?

Oh dude I know, I was afraid of it at first, seemed so foreign and I thought I would break it. It took me about a week or two of using it to learn the whole transition between raising and lowering. Haha

The SRW costs here about 2800 euro's.

That translates to £2460.00 UK pounds.

The cost is astronomical and completely outwith the realms of reality. It would however look good in an abstract expressionist exhibition at the Tate Modern or Guggenhiem.

WTF thats not massivly more than the GRCS TBH & seems to be a bit more versitile, have you ever used a GRCS? There looks to be quite a few more manufacturing processes in the SRW & did some1 tell me it's to be made from stainless? in which case it is arguable that the profit margins are far slimer

It is indeed full stainless steel, it is nicely finished and the winch is a Harken winch wich is the best for its durablity and lifting capacities.

Over here it's cheaper as a GRCS and it's not better but it's definitly different and in my opinion more versatile.

You can easily use 2 rigging lines on the SRW at the same time and lower and lift peaces on just 1 setup.

I'm sure the costs will be higher due to import taxes and shipment, but maybe some day Steven will contact some-one in the states that is happy to manufacture them in the USA.

That will definitly drop costs and will make it more in reach for you guys.

back to topic Stein VS GRCS ;-)

One can buy 2 grcs for the same price, and have few hundred leftover.
The smart winch is WAY cool, but WAY overpriced imo.
Stainless? So what. What's the advantage of that?

i'll buy a GRCS for £1230!
agree with you on the stainless though, i wasn't championing it as an advantge just that that would make it much more expensive to manufacture, that said there are some super light, super strong types of stainless (light for there strength still prety weighty compared to ally)

Ive got the goods and love it. However I feel that it is dependent on what you are going to be doing with it.

The goods excels at pulling/lifting and a fast changover between the two. WAY stronger than a 5 to 1 and porty. For straight blocking wood its not quite in its element but still does well. The goods is not for every removal but when it is the right situation nothing comes close. Like having a crane in a box! SUPER SWEET in storm damage and multi stem co-doms. Ive taken 20ft sticks tip tied in a 15ft landing zone with less shock on the system than the 5ft butt tied blocks for the last spar.

If you are going to be bombing big wood in tight quarters I thing the dual would have the edge.

The right tool for the right job. Simple as that. No rigging device will be perfect until we master the jedi force!
