Static Rope For Tree Climbing

Swing, ya bro I am good. Hope all is well your way too....

Tony, where did it get it spliced? I couldn't understand why it wouldn't be stitchable, but that is what I was told. I still have a fresh end it would be cool to have a splice.

Sherrill did it for me. They developed the specs from their break tests.

Nice and compact

I like my kernmaster for climbing but find its to bouncy for ascent and when top tied over its full 200ft length the bounce its unnerving sometimes, kernmaster is splicable i have seen it, a guy called Scott Sharpe came up with it over here on Oz but unfortunatly he passed away and only one other who works for yale can splice it. A few hanks are still going around with splices on them.

Strange, sure it is not tree flex. My 11mm has some initial stretch until fully loaded the is is pretty darn static.

Yo Swing, are going to be making it up this way this summer? C'mon you know you want to!!!

Was coming in August, first to Maryland to visit David Driver and then on to Eric's if he would have me...But I had a bad begining to the year so I need to right the ship..work has been steady and I need to be here to make it while it's coming....Next year for sure...

Yo, Swing...you know the door's always open for the likes of you. If I came home and found you sitting on my couch, it wouldn't phase me a bit.

You'll get busy enough to make the slow Spring a thing of the past. Best thing to do is just buy your ticket in advance and put it in the calendar. That way it's GOING to happen. You can sell half of your hitch cord collection and get a round trip ticket! (HA!

Back to the program...Static rope...

I really look forward to the upcoming Platinum made to the larger diameter. That has some great supple character to it. Like Dave, I also prefer my lines to be easily knotted if required. 11mm KMIII isn't bad at all for most SRT applications. This new Platinum is going to be similar. I held a sample piece at the NE-ISA TCC. Lars had a plethora of new lines there. Beautiful stuff!

I agree Eric. Since I still use the Croll chest ascender to help fairlead both my RW and HH, I need to make sure that my lines meet the EN1891 standard. Both the KMIII and NE Ropes Platinum do this.

Right now I am using 1/2" KMIII for both SRT and SRWP and really like the added thickness. I also have 11 mm Platinum, but am having trouble dialing in a hitch that will work well with it and the RP.

Really can't wait until Lars tells us that the 1/2" Platinum is ready. that line is really gonna rock!

Another thing that I wanted to mention for those that are still using a Croll, the 2013 newly released model is only good for lines that are 8-11 mm in dia. The old ones could go up to 13 mm. Be sure to check your gear and lines and make sure that they are compatible.

Kernmaster can be spliced, its just a technical splice. Easier to just get it stitched.
Kern does have a bit of bounce when you first jump on it but once you have done a few metres the bounce kinda dissapears. and that stretch is great IF you did have a fall o it. Very soft in hand. and the new SA colour scheme is briliant too :)
