I've had a tough time with blaze as well, pi and blue moon have gone together for me fairly well however. I wear gloves for the final bury, my hands are too soft, i climb with gloves on so blister up pretty easy.

Using a hitch chord on the final bury for double braid also works very well. Puts all the grip into the hitch chord and not your hands.

roxy, are you stitching the crossover to make it smaller? Also if you milk the crossover back to where the cover taper starts inside the core, before the final bury this will help too.

Yeah, Chris showed us an awesome trick for balancing the core out on the final bury using an awl. He should put up a video of it.

I'd be interested in watching a vid with a secret trick! Still working on those two splices. Wearing a glove today. Covering blisters, but getting way better on technique.
