Stable braid End to end splice

Situation: fairly new 200' length of half inch stable braid. And so, of course, what happens? Damaged right in the motherf@#$ing, go@@*mn, a$$ reaming middle of the rope!!! So, would it be possible to splice the cut ends together, and would that be advisable? Or should i just live with 110' and 90' lengths?

Thanks davey. Double braid class 1 end for end splice? Looking in the samson splicing book it looks like there is an overlap section where the two complete lines lie side by side before each is buried into the other. So i guess using it with a pully might prove difficult.

When it's done there is a little bit of a bulge at the crossover. but i did a 9/16 rope and use 3/4 blocks or big rings so never had an issue. It was awhile ago but i think theres something different about the tapers that makes it come out almost the same size as the original rope but i cant remember.

Davey is correct, at one point the splice will be two diameters thick, but won’t be single diameter until the end of the buries.

Here is the finished splice from the samson manual. Is there any way to avoid the double width at crossover?

I don’t think so, if the buries were reduced right a way there would still be a bump twice the size where they cross each other.
Only thing I could think of is maybe a straight bury through the end, don’t know how long of bury, and it still would increase the diameter, but maybe less than double.

Just for conversation sake ONLY, once could cut a single strand and weave it back into the other leg. One at a time with a full rotation between ends.
I’ve done this on plastic lines and it held abuse.

Good experience comes from good judgment.

Good judgment comes from bad experiences.

I knicked my 250' HTP a couple days ago. Not like me to do.

It was too long for many trees, just right for some. Now I'll have a couple shorter lengths, and buy a new, long one.
