@rico let's see a pic of this wombo combo setup, if you would; also, how long is your hitch cord completley unraveled - 5 foot? Thanks

I have used my homebrew DeWalt cordless power ascender a number of times as a winch up in the tree, to hoist a saw, heavy gear bag, wood for a tree house, etc. The ascender comes off my climbing line in seconds, then I unhook it from the saddle bridge, flip it upside down and hook it to a strap on a limb. Then I insert the tail of the climbing line in it to lift whatever I had tied to the end of the line on the ground. Could take a second and even third line with me too, for multiple lifts. It is great having the power ascender quickly mid-line attachable and it seems to work with just about every rope I have used it with. I will try to get some GoPro video soon of using it this way, as a lifting winch once I am at height and have it back off my climbing line.You know all those fancy rope winch ascenders that are everywhere? If they made one that was lighter just for pulling your rope (or a saw or whatever you could do by hand), I would use it. I would use it at redirects to pull my tail up. I would use it for saws. I would use it to pull up heavy steel blocks. I would use it for heavy rigging lines.
But only if it was small enough to justify it.
Well, right, it would certainly be rather heavy hanging from the saddle if you were not using it. But I was already using the device myself to ascend so it was there to use as a winch once I was up there. I don't really notice the weight and bulk of the power ascender because I take it off the line once I am aloft and just hang it nearby strapped to a limb when not using it. The neat part is it will lift a LOT more than just a saw if need be. It is good for about 300 to 350 pounds easily.. . . I love your device, but it's far too bulky and heavy to just carry around for pulling tools. . . .
@Stephen MooreYou're still moving a 150-200 pound climber to pull up 20-30 pounds.
I'd rather keep the climber stationary, with an overhead haul point.
A mini-traxion wall hauler pulley is Overkill.
A garta-hitch/ Alpine clutch might be some added friction, but it's ezpz.

@Stephen Moore
Both of you.. keep it freakin simple. groundie ties on to your tail. take your tail though your micro pulley, down to your knee and footie. rope walk that shit up.
well then who needs rope cams just use the pointy things.Unless I'm spurring, all i usually need less than one tankful on a 193t.
spurs and ropewalking?

Here's my current setup with the Wrench and HTP. I have been running the HTP with the Wrench, a Hitch Hiker, and my new BDB. All three are wonderful, but for whatever reason the Wrench HTP combo is freaking magic. So fluid and effortless! I just ordered a Reon Rounds aluminum tether for the Wrench. Really looking forward to a shorter stiffer tether for all the spar work I do.
I’ll let the wife know you dig her rope. I keep putting new hangers on the door to nowhere, and my wife keeps filling em’ up with her endless shit. Maybe I should toss all her stuff on the floor, and I can start hanging all my super cool saddles there? On second thought, maybe not.Nice robe
Sounds kinky, keep that saddle talk in your bedroom with that wonderful lady of yours. But I couldI’ll let the wife know you dig her rope.
