Splicing Ice Tail

I recently received 20 feet of ice tail that I want to splice. Everywhere I look, it states that it is a 12 strand Class II splice...however, the rope I received has a core, almost like a double braid. I'm VERY new to the whole splicing game but this has me kind of baffled...I know there was a thread with a link to Samson's instruction on splicing ice tail, but the link doesn't work anymore.

You got sent reinforced ice tail, codenamed "grizzly." Samson puts a core in the rope so that it can get sewn by a machine without flattening. It is identical though so if you pulled the core out it would be the same as normal Ice Tail. Where did you buy it from?

I bought it from Sherrill...so if I pull that entire core out, it'll have the exact same characteristics as regular Ice? Is that core load bearing at all, or it's just to avoid flattening in a sewn splice? To further confuse things, on Sherrill's description of the product, it specifically says that it's a single braid. (See link above)

They must have just grabbed some of it from the splicing department and sent it in error. Easy mistake to make. The core is not load bearing at all, as Ice Tail is a hollow-core 12-strand. That polyester cord is merely a placeholder to give the rope body, similar to the core in 16-strand arborist lines. If you pull it out, you can treat the line like a normal ice tail, you'll just have the un-dyed variation.
