Splicing Brummel

If you look at the NE Ropes splicing instructions on the NE Web site, the hollow braid simple bury splice calls for a bury of 2 fid lengths. Here they are using less than one.

I always thought the 2-fid-length spec was highly conservative and frequently used shorter buries myself. I also knew from some simple experiments in polyester hollow-braid that tucks, as in the Brummel shown here, are much more effective inch for inch than a simple bury in holding an eye splice together. This one-fid-length Brummel spec of theirs seems very reasonable.

But they should tell us to stitch the throat!

Why dont they? Nick mentioned it in his whoopie sling video.
Samson does not mention stitching anything in their whoopie sling instructions-why
Also- why do they (samson) not taper the tail in the tail of the brummel?

I had a WesSpur spliced Tenex sling come unburied on me. After that I spliced my own slings and added several stitches where the bury occurs.
