Splice a second bridge onto lower d's?

I want to splice 11mm double braid onto the lower d's of my treemo. Do you think it could be done? My first concern is pulling enough core out on the second eye. My second concern is getting enough leverage on the splices to fully bury them.

It’s the throat area of the splice that should be avoided. It seems like bending the splice farther back would help to hold the bury inside.

How short do you want this bridge to be? My bridge is like 10-12 inches long. You can’t do two double braid splices PROPERLY and have it that short. Even 24” is tough

I'm looking for it to be a little on the long side. My stock bridge is set around 20", I want the second to be longer. I was hoping to get in at no more than 28", 26" would be perfect.

Eliminate the core and do full length buries with just the cover?

Yeah, a friend "back in the day" made some hitch cords that way, Nick knows of whom I speak, they did not break test near as well as a core bury splice.

Although I don't think the jacket only splice is a way I would go, the loading on a hitch cord is much different than a bridge or an end to end pull. I wonder how the different spice types would compare when loaded in different ways?

Yes, I had to make one myself. If I’m remembering right he did locked brummels and short buries. I was thinking overlapping full length buries. Depending on material used and the length of the bridge, locked brummels may be needed also.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you couldn't do locked brummels on both sides if splicing to the d's.

The only way is to re weave the rope. It can be done.

There are ways it could be a spliced bridge done, but I will go no further...

Well, I said f it and spliced a very long bridge onto my lower d's. Due to the length, I don't think there will be an issue with side load and friction on the splices, but I am keeping a close eye on it. 20190412_162843.webp
And in its stowed position when not in use.

I'll let you know if it fails.
