Any preference when to cut them back (I'm in Zone 6a hardiness). I usually like to cut them back right after flowering so they will get some flowers next year but outside of that if they want to go for it I will do it pretty much anytime except late fall. Then they can push out some growth that will freeze.

I had a BBBeauty Mag freeze last year I cut back in early winter, but many froze that weren't cut back. Not looking for opinions as to why I am cutting them back.

They respond really weird to pruning IMHO. I usually just let them do their thing unless critical. They tend to go crazy with upright sprouts afterwards, and many try to compete for "leadership". Ha! See what I did there? Competing leaders? Leadership? Yes, y'all can use that. But I'd like a shout-out each time :)

I'll tell my client "TreeLogic" said it is all about "Leadership" (not....lol)
