Thanks David,
Having problems getting used to the posting system here. So reposting again.

I made a dump run this evening.
I built this trailer unit in my car garage 15 years ago. I actually learnt to weld on this project. Still holding together hehe

Ive said it before....great set up. How far do you go to dump ? Its about an hour round trip for me. Lot of tree companies in Victoria, so its not so easy to get rid of.

This dump site is right in the center of our city of 15,000 citizens. Within 5 minutes of any jobs I do here. Right behind the UCN College, you can Google map it(Thompson,Manitoba)
Doesn't cost me a cent.
Good pay back for the long winters we endure here.

Thanks fellas. It's perfect for a 1 man operation or 2 man at best. I perfer to work alone.
That's a Vermeer 252 stump grinder besides the Morbark 2060D chipper with

On the tongue with its own fold up loading ramp is my hired man:D
A Honda powered 4×4 4 speed Muck Truck power barrow, rated at 800lb carrying capacity up a 38 percent grade.

It's good to hear from you Merle. Very nice working man's site here.
I started reading into that thread and lots of good ingenuity.
Custom built equipment put together with practical solutions from an end user who knows what's needed.

Love the pics Reg. Nice to have a high tie in point.
That would have been a valuable red cedar log if it wasn't so rotten.

On my old computer I got a picture of a faller buddy of mine laying inside a facecut of a big red cedar he was falling up on Victoria Peak north of Campbell River back in the 1980's.
15 feet in diameter.

I say the video Reg. What a bitch sorry it work out that way!!!!! And you have to be one tough dude to take a tree that size down in fire wood chunks!!

Haha, great picture. Only been to London once, so, you probably know more about it than I do now.

Incidentally, just looked this big log to cut down earlier. It's about 50 ft or a little less. Can't fall it whole because of a greenhouse they put up one side, and septic feild the othet. So definitely one for the big saw aloft. Barks been cut away at the bottom like someone was going to fall it many years ago, but then didn't. 10 in thick. Higher up its separated and like an avalanche ready to let go when I start sawing.View attachment 44869

Lordy Lord ..Reg...

I keep underestimating tree heights of late. I don't know why, or what I'm seeing from the ground. This was yet another.
I don't know about being tough, but I have ignorance in abundance. It's a blessing at times.
Thanks.

I saw a video from Glenn Blair talking about using a drone to calculate tree height and condition. They can see were we can't!!

I've used the triangulation stick trick method for years and am accurate within a few feet on a 100 foot tall tree.
Takes practice to compensate for back and forward lean or uneven ground.
But very easy to rectify.

A clinometer app and tape measure works great.

I think that there is an app called Tree Height that a guy mentioned.

I use body measurements, hand 8", elbow to pinky 19". Boot 12" long. Wingspan 6', if not a tape measure.

Its easy to screw up an estimate with too much talking IME. I like to put my hands on trees to get the best feel beyond a tape measure.

Big trees lose a sense of scale.

If there are taller/ bigger trees in adjacent areas that can screw stuff up.
