So the 880 is pretty heavy....

Not to sound like a wuss but the 880 with the 48" bar is about all I want to mess with on the ground. I couldn't imagine trying to cut aloft with it or even hang it from my saddle. I gotta give you guys props that do

Besides, this guy proves that you dont need anything more than a 16" :D

That was a really cool vid, climber is definitely a bad ass. Out of curiosity, is that one of the companies they followed in that show axe men? It's hard to tell because everyone is acting really calm and professional and not like a bunch of jackasses but I recognize the guy with the missing hand.

I weigh about 155. Use a modded 3120 regularly in a tree. Not always because I need the bar length, but often because I prefer the extra power....I am finished sooner. Never thought it was a big deal, once it's in the cut you're not carrying its weight. Technique, like most things.

Hey Reg, have you done any heli logging lately?
How's it going..hope all is well with you out on Victoria?

Biggest saw I ran aerial while climbing is a 395XP with 36" .404
Big cottonwood (Yes we have big cottonwood and poplar up here in northern Manitoba)
The kerf of the wet fibre was immediately closing up and binding a lighter chain and powering out a smaller saw.

395XP is a good runner no matter how big but I see more and more evidence the MS661 is a stronger and more ergonomic big block saw to run.

Willard, great to see you.

I signed up for it earlier in the year, but turned into a mirage. Lots of false starts and cancelations. In the end I was just losing work on my doorstep as a result, so I had to bail. A pic from a site way up in the mountains, between Cowichan and Carmanah. Locked hubs and 4L on those roads....both hands on the wheel, it's a long drop over the side.

That's beautiful country up there alright, I've been up in that area several times over the years . A buddy of mine lives out in Cowichan.

Yes with the way the weather is changing everywhere your best just to stay at home and grind it out with residential.
We had a crazy winter. 3 feet of snow on Oct 1st and stayed for 6 1/2 months...

I took my family to London England for 2 weeks in April spring break and the weather was weird there too. We brought rain jackets umbrellas but wasn't a drop of rain for the whole time. Sunny and warm in the 20 Celsius range. Lots of pollen from the trees breaking bud.

My first time there, we love England and would go back in a heartbeat.
Met some arbs working in the London zoo, great bunch of guys. They were telling me if I ever need a climber they'd like to do a little work across the pond.

Here's their outfit I took in above pics before my wife and 3 kids dragged me
off . No standing still in my family lol.

Haha, great picture. Only been to London once, so, you probably know more about it than I do now.

Incidentally, just looked this big log to cut down earlier. It's about 50 ft or a little less. Can't fall it whole because of a greenhouse they put up one side, and septic feild the othet. So definitely one for the big saw aloft. Barks been cut away at the bottom like someone was going to fall it many years ago, but then didn't. 10 in thick. Higher up its separated and like an avalanche ready to let go when I start sawing.2017-05-30 11.12.42.webp

Yep I can't wait either Reg, be safe!

I don't know where to post work pics so I guess here is just as good as any.
Reg I know you want to work solo as much as you can.
This is my solo endeavours this morning .
Came to this job 9 a.m. this morning, kids still walking to school before I could start on these 3 poplars.
First one straight fell, second 90 degree guy line to lay. Last heavy backleaner I pulled with my truck.
Bucked them up, chipped the limbs , loaded up the first load of rounds on the Muck Truck .
Now sitting here at 11:15 am have a bagel, tea and sending these pics.
But learning curve here on Tree Buzz, it took me a hour and a half to upload this pics between loads of rounds to the customers wood pile.
