Sirius splicing

Just checking:

Wesspur lists sirius as non splicable, but it is actually splicable, right and suitable for anchor slings? Just a good old class one double braid, correct?

Their website has info for a sirius splice. Turns out to be the same as samson class 1 db splice. The cover is tight so I like to add an extra 5 inches on the end and do a lil taper on the core before I try to bury it so it slides thru easier. Same way lots of ppl do tachyon and other hard to splice db's

By adding 5 inches, you mean a fid plus 5" before starting they eye or....? I've never really had much issue out of tach. I just snatch the crap out of it with a wire fid and she goes right on through.

Oh wait.....I'm picking up what you are putting down. Yes 5 inches before the eye measurements. The extra core length is for a more gradual taper before trying to tuck the core. I'm with it.

I was mainly asking because of the wesspur site's claim of non-splicable but the tef website giving instructions.

Dedgum I wish the retailers would get on board with supplying accurate information. I've worked in a few different industries, but this industry is the worst about there being a disconnect between manufacturers, suppliers, and users.

Hey Everyone,

Brandon here from Arbsession. Nice to meet you all, I have been lurking for awhile. I have done a fair amount of research and testing and this is what I have found out for 14mm Sirius Bull Rope. Teufelberger lists a MBS free length at 11,680 lbf and a MBS spliced at 9930. I have been following Samson's double braid instructions and I have been pulling 5 pairs of strands for the taper, one every 5 pairs (5 at every 5th). My results are around 11800 lbf on our break test machine. Again, this is for the 14mm Sirius Bull Rope.
