Sherrill Shipping

Ok, I try to buy all my stuff from treestuff.com, but on occasion they don't have what I need, so I go to Sherrill. For example I recently purchased The Art and Science of Practical Rigging ( purchased on the morning of 21st ) from sherrill, I still havn't received it, and they just shiped it yesterday. It always seems when I do order from Sherrill it takes WAY WAY longer to get it than when I order anywhere else. When I order from Treestuff, it seems to get here really fast. WTH? Just venting, as I hate waiting too long for stuff.

Maybe it wasn't in stock.

Which they should have called anyways, but a lot of companies I've dealt with usually don't which can be really annoying when you need something.

Shipping is one a huge factor in where I order my equipment from. Treestuff.com and Wesspur get 99% of my orders. IMO the only thing Sherrill has going for it is the price match, and they just make it too hard sometimes. Treestuff and Wesspur are smart to offer free shipping all the time.... I am still trying to figure out why Sherrill doesn't do the same.

Think about when you ordered it. It's not the best time for Johnny on the spot service 3 days before Christmas. All mail order companies were slammed and shy on help, so was the freight network.

I've definitely experienced a lot worse ordering on line.

I agree about the free shipping, it gets my attention because I always order over $100 and rope and steel are heavy.

I agree with you emr!

Pretty much the same except I lean towards treestuff.com a lot more.

Free shipping is great!

Yeah, Luke pretty much rocks. One day this summer he spent about 45mins or so just chewing the fat with me. It was cool to get his take on some of the things going on in our industry. With guys like him, prices like they have, and free shipping who needs the others.

I still think that Wesspur cant be beat for certain items. I love that they sell so many different rope by the foot. But I digress.

I just ordered from Treestuff last night. Free shipping, cheapest price, and he added a random discount. I'm still loyal to wesspur but I can share.

Totally way too hard. I wanted to order a bunch of eye spliced ropes and they would not honor the competitors price saying they don't know what specs the rope is splice at. ooooook??

They charged me close to 300$ shipping on a order of a little less than 3000$. Oversized items were 2 modular guards and a half dozen fiberglass poles. Other than that normal stuff. Thought for sure they come by truck freight, but nope Ups.

I haven't ordered since then and will not in the future. Usually spend 6000$ or more a year with them. Also setting up a second trailer for another crew. Have to give Treestuff a go. Wesspur has been good, just seems to take forever to get here.

I know timing was right before holidays, but this has happened all 4 times I used them. I stick with Treestuff, wasspur, and sometimes baileys. Local place has SOME stuff, but it's high priced, and there's a Vermeer store not to far away.

I frankly lost a lot of respect for Sherril many years ago when they formed their alliance with Vermeer. Overnight, all the "right" tree gear was made instantly available to every jackleg and hack through the local Vermeer store. The impact truly hit me the first time I saw a local "bubba" competitor using his brand new porta wrap to do a topping job on a large oak tree. Before then, you almost had to be a member of an arborist organization to receive any tree gear catalogs.

I did their online survey and cited the stringent requirements of the pricing policy as a weakness in their customer service. They denied a price match on a biner because it was a different color! If more of us were to send them this message then maybe Tobe will change the policy.

Up untill a few months ago I didn't hear much good or bad about any of the suppliers, then I talked with some of you fine people on here, saw the large differences in pricing of the suppliers, and heard a lot of negative about Sherrill, fortunately I pretty much stick with treestuff, unless they don't have what I need.

when I was looking for the best deal on Art and Science, I couldn't believe the price differences. Blue Ridge Arborist supplies was $150 MORE than sherrill. I emailed and asked about it, 3 days later they said their online price was wrong, and it was actually only $50 more. Maybe I'm a non believer, but I think they just gouged a lot of people at the higher price until someone called them out on it. How can their be that big of a difference on a DVD set??

Anyone else expierence BIG difference in pricing on same item?

I've already ranted here about this more than once, so I won't do it again. Suffice it to say, Sherrill is the supplier of last resort for me now, after years of being first, primarily because of high-priced, slow shipping.

Did i hear my name?

Sorry bout the tardy delivery Raven, will check it out when i return but suspecting holidays because our online and call in systems provide current stock status. As for the disc not playing, now that purely stinks. We'll try to make it up, pls call in.

To the comment about serving butchers because we have a dealership network, i hope somebody was kidding. We've invested big energy and resources into training, education and safety. Perhaps the witnessed Portawrap came from even easier to access on line source. Possible?

As for the free freight issue we've tried it and it truly kills the bottom line. Don't know how competitors can serve it and survive. We'll keep focused on top quality and fast turn around and hope for your returned business one day when someone slips. Sure to happen.

All the best

Wow, I got a call from Sherrill Tree today, didn't get message until late, but I plan to call tomorrow. I am a little suprised, pleased that any company goes to that extent as to find a thread about them, and get contact number for me to try and fix issue. I guess for $155 I'd expect 2 DVD to be top quality visually and better audio. It's very quiet. The content is very good though. I am going to try the DVD in every player I have tonight. I did order items from treestuuf.com AFTER this DVD set, and got them within 3 days. I know the holiday shipping can be a little delayed, but every order placed seems to take a while, or treestuff, Wesspur, and Baileys are all just really fast.

Well I do have a DVD player that it works in, thank god, so I finished last dvd ( almost ) At least it's working, just not in room I wanted it, or on laptop, LOL I'll call Tobe back tomorrow

Keep in mind the companies dont make the product. They just distribute them so if the dvd or something else doesnt work it may not be there fault. How a company handles it is what sets a company apart.

I have found insurance I can get cheaper for my needs but the service I have with my current is something I dont dare chance losing by going to someone else.
