I use a transporter and 2 caritools on my everyday saddle. I have the shembiner on my secondary saddle, I like it but with the added security of the gate I can hook my saw 1 handed with the transporter nearly just as fast, which is why I choose the transporter.
Personally, I think if your rigging getting tangled in a shembiner is a concern, you’re doing something wrong. Slings or saddle carryon is one thing. Your rigging should never be that close to you

Is it just jammed in there and it stays, or does it need to be secured? The scabbard is skinnier than mine. Does it dig into your hip?

No hip dig, there is a pass through on the scabbard that fits the hook and loop on the ergo perfectly. Third scabbard I have worn this way, you can also attach the three prong clip loop at the same point if you want it to sit lower.

I’ve been rocking the shembiner for a few years. Never dropped a saw.

My Shembiner is great, the only time it has ever “lost” a saw is on a pruning job where a limb has caught under the saw and lifted it when I was descending through a tight spot.
