Setting up the "M"

Re: Setting up the \"M\"

Like I said, true. On the other hand, how cool is it to be dependent on a single piece of gear?

Actually Stumper I was thinking you did that just to see if I was paying attention... Tom thinks we're being adult adolescents here though so I'm gonna behave... in this thread... for a little while.

Re: Setting up the \"M\"

Another thing about this is that you have to 'pay out' 4x as much line; rather than the usual DdRT 2x. Don't get mu wrong i still use it!

The 4x (d)effect; also gives a loss of elasticity. the more the spread angle; the higher line; hitch and support tensions.

Of curse a tender on top of your hitch; will tend you down if it is tight. So, i make sure nothing will slip/fail; and lanyard in; take out center, before releasing from support 2.

I don't follow what you mean there. But hey, I was just giving you a hard time! I like your creative approach.

Re: Setting up the \"M\"

Hey TLHamel!

I meant that sometimes we perhaps rely on a particular piece of gear to perform a certain function, and then we tend to get stuck in that frame of mind. Don't get me wrong, the hitchclimber is a nice piece of kit, I was just trying to come up with an inexpensive and simple alternative.
Besides, I don't think the hitchclimber will mix well with my daily setup, so I'm more likely to carry some kind of sling/loop.

Re: Setting up the \"M\"

so you are still climbing on that setup and are happy with it? i remeber when u posted that a while ago i determined to get a shunt. I never did.

I did get a hitchclimber and it changed my life in such a way that I forgot all about my determination to own a shunt.

I am not sure but it seems like you could still use an hc in that system but it would only tend the hitch in short mode.
An HC opens up a whole new world of oppurtunities with gear.
That is a great little three way knot you put for the M system. It reminds me of setting up an anchor rock climbing.
