Setting a retrievable tie in from the ground

I'm wondering about using a retrievable tie in point that can be installed from the ground. What is available out there, and most importantly, do you have a home made design? The premade products out there are 300 and 400 dollars. $150 sounds more like it, so home made design it is.

This is great, Jim. I'll look into the sites/channels these links come from for additional education. I'm trying to advance my techniques like going to the next level.

Have you ever heard of the U-Saver V2? It's similar to that ART set up, but I believe it's much cheaper. There are several videos on Youtube that go over it.

I really like the pulley saver myself,Ive heard good things about the rope guide as well.I have never installed a rope guide from the ground ,i just do it when I get to the top of the tree.If I do not have to go to the top I would probably use a different option.

The U Saver is the Pulley Saver I assume. Is that right?

I'm going to get a lock jack soon enough, and I want to have my retrievable tie in system all dialed in when I get it. I really like the speed and viable use of the DRT rope on a pulley and clutching mechanism (I hope that makes sense). The prussic on a DRT over the branch is too slow IMO.

What's your choice of clutching mechanism, or are you using hitches? I'm still in the air about the Lock Jack vs. Spider Jack. I'm very impressed with how demonstrators use the spider jack, but the spider jack has the wooden lever that can stab you in an accident.

If this is all JP to you, let me know. I know there's level of skill in the buzzer group that I might never reach. I appreciate the knowledge.

Oh, there you are.

Okay, well I saw a series of videos, 1-6, about the supposedly named U Saver. The guy in the vid talks about redesigning the U Pulley. Here's the video of the U Saver/U Pulley, and the rest of the series shows up on the right of the screen.

I'd assume that this sort of thing could be built cheap enough to put a huge smile on my face. What do you know about that?

I dont know Ive never used it and most of the home made ones I made got stuck alot.I like the pulley saver and have only got it stuck 2 or 3 times in a year or 2,i cant remember . My buddy told me he uses the latest rope guide and it works really well.Let me find a video of the P S.

What was the problem with your home made systems? Were the holes not big enough or something?

This type of thing along with the retrievable redirect are going to be a big shift in my usual routine. I'm not a big fan of the SRT, so I DRT. The problem with using the DRT when using a redirect or two, the friction on the branch of the primary TIP is too much for using the redirect/s IMO.

In most cases I'll just skip the redirect/s all together, and just pull out the primary TIP to place it in new locations as I go through the tree. When there are no natural crotches available because previous climbers cut them out or what ever, a home made pulley saver as an artificial crotch would help keep my climbing time down.

is there a way to set the pulleysaver from the ground? i recently picked one up and spent the afternoon with a friend trying to figure out how on earth it could be installed in a proper configuration from the ground with a throwline and a couple throw bags. the only way we could get it was with the climbline running through the pulley AND the soft eye, which obviously is way less than ideal as the friction of the rope on the soft eye would wear it out pretty quickly.
