Seth Bihun's lowerable daisy chain basal anchor

I haven't seen this type of lowerable basal anchor before, and I think it is pretty great. It just came to my boss, Seth Bihun of Total Tree Care of Iowa City, one night when he woke at 3:00 am. (We call it the "tree a.m." anchor.) He starts with a half-hitch on a bight, but I've used a simple loop as well, which works fine. The half-hitch is probably more stable. I don't use the prusik and carabiner combination, but we added it on the spot in case someone wants it to pass the whistle test. If you can't read my attempt at inserting text in the video, there is no pressure on the prusik and biner (or on the other biner, for that matter.)

Gotta love the 3 AM inspirationals! This is simple and familiar to most tree peeps, a positive. I'd like to see you test it further by actually trying to lower the climber by releasing the prusik. Hint: watch your knuckles!
This could be made with an alpine butterfly above. In the case of an actual AR scenario, the prepared groundsperson (s) could hook in a rescue lowerable line before disengaging the prusik...
Have to try these in real life to know if they would be practical when you need them.
Nice share!
