Scary Loaner Chipper

There's a foot of wet snow on the ground and its not done, so we're not working. You must think us Canadians are such weenies.
Just sick of the stuff though.
Already bored so here's another meaningless post.

When one of our Bandit chippers was in for repair we got this free loaner. Was so embarreassed that our truck (with our logo) was spotted towing this wreckage.

But the funny part was the 'safety features'. These helpful diagrams.

We did our best to not ever start the damn thing.

Sorry to waste your bandwidth.

I'm trying to not remember that Casey!!!

It would only chip large pieces. Regular brush just kind of got mangled and spit through into the box looking like chewed spaghetti.
We only had it for 2 days, thank goodness. Not ours to fix either so we just didn't bother to use it much.

I haven't seen stickers like that in a long time... My 2007 Bandit doesn't have the graphic picture like those. Those are awesome!

Was the chip quality a knife thing, or an anvil thing? Or, both?

Knife type. I think. Didn't really want to look at that thing too much.

My Bandit has the stickers with the cash flow blowing out of the exhaust but not the dude going through the feed wheels. Those are awesome.

I am really surprised that they gave you that hunk of junk as a loaner. Was it from a Bandit Dealer or just a shop that somehow works on chippers and has a loaner chipper sitting around?

My favorite safety sticker is the crushed hand. I would LOVE to be the person in charge of drawing those pictures. I'd definitely take that as a second job.

Private job to rebuild the Bandit. T don't know where the boss got the loaner. Just something he dug around for so we could keep working (probably sitting in a field or something)and not have to leapfrog the remaining chipper across two crews. Good intentions all around I think.

I think it was worth the laugh just for the artwork.

I ran an old Bandit for years with those placards. It never occurred to me how ridiculous some of them are until you posted the pic, I just took them for granted hahaha! My favorite is still:

THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE A BRAIN

USE YOUR OWN

-Tom

We got the one of buddy just chucking duckets carelessly into the wind. Don't have any of those other ones though... Could have been worse, you could have been working with a Vermeer where you have to push, pull, twist, flip a switch, do the hokee-pokee to get the feed wheels rolling again after a twig hit the bump bar.

I could blast and paint that chipper in a day and make it look awesome and probably sell it for 6-7 or use it in a million dollar community and it would look respectable. I bought a new bandit 250xp 2 years ago and it had similar stickers. You would be suprised how many guys trash clutches throttling the machine full throttle and engaging.

i just had to check that my chipper was still parked outside...mine has the same look, just not the awesome stickers. Yeah, its not the prettiest machine, but man it gets the job done. I hope to be able to get a paint job after this summer, but until then, what you consider to be a trashy stand by machine, is actually all i've got...

true story, a well maintained classic it is (besides the paint)... I would feel uneasy with a strange junker as well. Be safe... it sounds like a sharp set of knives could have gone a long ways

I'd use that any day compared to what we got stuck with. We broke a spindle on our Bandit 250 and had to beg, borrow or steal a chipper to use. What we came up with was an Old Chuck & Duk. The name is soooo appropriate. We'd come in lookin like we'd been in a cat fight. Ripped clothing, scratches every where, frustrated, angry, and mumbaling under our breath. And of course it would always start and run even at -20. Not plugged in. Wish other equipment would start and run like this unit. Well start any way.
