Samson Hyperclimb is Yale Blue moon is Poison Ivy?

I just wanted to confirm with the pros.... 11.7 mm rope family including
Samson Hyperclimb
Yale Blue Moon
Samson/Yale Ivy ropes
All 6500# mbs, 11.7mm, 24 strand and same elongation and specs......
Are all these the same ropes?
Hyperclimb seems cheaper for no apparent reason..... which makes me want to drop coin for the Hyperclimb if its all the same..... Thanks!

I don’t know anything about hyperclimb, but I do know that blue moon and ivy have different elongation and feel very different in the hand. Blue moon seems to have a bit less bounce/stretch than ivy. This has been my personal experience.

Thanks for the input! I found 200' of Hyperclimb with a tight eye for $138 shipped from Bartlett, That's well over $50 cheaper than all the other 24 strand 11.7..... I will roll the dice.....

I hate to say it cause I like Samson and I like the different vendors that sell it (wesspur and arbsession) but Hyperclimb is terrible!

It's performance is not bad elongation wise and it runs great in mechanicals but it's gotta be the least hardy rope I've ever used. I have a 6 month old hank that looks as bad or worse than 2 year old ivy. Whole yarns pick, it gets tore up running over natty crotches, in general very poor when it comes to longevity. I won't buy it again and several of my coworkers, after seeing mine have said the same thing; "thanks for being the guinea pig for us Dan"

I'll be needing another rope to replace it soon and I'll be going back to Yale XTC24 which is what poison ivy was a vendor specific color of.

Btw of you're looking for ivy it's sold at wesspur called Yale focus (and several other vendors have their colors too).

Wow..... I bet that's why I got it so cheap..... my Ivy is a few years old and fuzzy but still usable..... I'm assuming they use different polys when constructing the 11.7 mm lineup..... I was hoping I found same exact rope but just different colors......

My experience is the same. It feels great, but both Samson versions I have are wearing out fast. I had to milk several feet off to prevent the picking, after my first one picked like crazy. They’ve even glazed, which I never remember from Yale’s lineup. This thread is good to read, because I was starting to wonder if I’d just gotten rougher on my ropes, but my other lines are holding up just fine.

Samson Tango Ivy is 11.7 mm 6500# 24 strand doubled braid 6.5 lbs per 100ft made for Sherrill and sells for $230 with eye
Samson Hyperclimb is 11.7 mm 6500# 24 strand double braid 6.5 lbs per 100 ft and selling now at Bartlett for $140 with eye.....

Does Samson put magical polymer into the Ivy? I bought Hyperclimb just for a side by side..... worst case it will be good for my 2nd mech/adv. setup.....

I tried hyperclimb. I liked it but it twists a lot. That’s the only downside I found.
No it does not. You must have got hank that was braided badly or came off spool badly. I have 3 hanks. Only used one but wow, it is such good rope. Paired with 9.3 epi it is the shit.

But This piece has no splice and I milked it about 6 times before I climbed on it, switching ends. It got so tight like I like my rope. No baggy shit cover to core.

@swingdude are most of your island trees smooth bark or rough? This could account for a Northerner having a different experience with durability. Just a thought. I have wanted to try Hyperclimb but the low price made me skeptical. That and the fact that I don't actually need more rope.

Rough. Tropical trees are generally hard on ropes.

TreeBuzz, where you can shop till you get an opinion you like.... :) Just kidding.

Great to get someone who has great success with it. If I had just bought a hank of it I would milk it about 7 or 8 times and run it as close to how swingdude does.
Merle I never climb with a rope straight out the bag. I milk the shit out of it til the cover aligns correctly with the core and it gets rock hard. The rope is then ready to climb on. But hey that is I. Unless I want a crane rope I do not get an eyesplice. I only SRT.
