It's official. I just got back from Deer Creek (okay, http://verizonwirelessmusiccenter.com/ now; kind of like Alpine Valley [or whatever it's called now... in East Troy, WI) and the geezer puts on a good show.
I know him primarily from the self-titled "Montrose" album and he played a few of those tunes too. Haven't really followed him through the years but did recognize just about all the songs he and his fairly good band played.
The bassist from Van Halen opened the second set in a Jimi Hendrix-like fashion and took over the bass part from then on.
I'd go again, but I think I'd sneek in my own (good, this time) beer... Couldn't find a concession stand that would sell me a glass of Sammy's tequila. Bummer!
