SAKA X?

Modding and mating appropriate terminations to a Dan House cambium saver to affix the ascender and biner/foot loop on the other end could mebbe do away with the rubber webbing thing altogether. The SAKA dyneema bungees would run protected inside Dan's conduit.
Could call it the SAKA Dan.

This is starting to remind me of a knee ascender that my old buddy Bill Price designed out of a piece of 1/2" PVC pipe. There was no bungie at all. Just a piece of strong cord that was attached to the bottom of the ascender and ran down thru the pipe to the stirrup It flexed at the stirrup attachment and kind of wobbled around, but it did more or less push the knee ascender up each time he raised his foot.

I tried something similar. Made essentially a stiff tether out of that Marlow heat shrink stuff. It worked pretty well but I found that everytime I bent down it would poke me in the balls so it had to go.

I don't know the date, it was several years ago and I didn't date it. The receipt is from last week, I redrew the notes on it.

The Nylon Highway is a publication of the National Speleological Society, and the issues that are sold out are available to read online. Anybody interested in the early SRT should check them out.

In issue #26 there is an article about the device shown in my avatar.
