Good thought, but yes, bungee is hooked in under the Uni.
Kindly throw uni in the closet or sell to an unsuspecting cabbage on treebay and get a wrench... smoothest multiscender out there with so much setup variety.

No thanks. I'm loving the Uni, very successful climb with it yesterday and I'm glad I have it. I SRT'd to the top, then tied into the tail of my line for DdRT in the tree. So nice.

Tons of adjustability, the bungee has a crazy amount of stretch, the ascender itself functions well (my og saka has the ct ascender), and it packs up super small.
The only thing that's taken some getting used to is having to clip it higher up on my system to get enough stretch. I clipped the og saka to my bridge ring, I've been hooking the mini to the spine of my bulldog bone, just about 6-8" higher to get a fuller stride.
Next for me is going to be a retractable reel.
I just picked.mine up yesterday from Richard his own self and tried it today one time. I adjusted it to the lengths I have on my OG Saka and doubled the excess bungee back to the ascender body. The only issue I can see happening is the lower biner is not held tightly in place as this is the adjustment end of the webbing side. Once I get the fine tuning dialed in I will either sew it in place or run the buckle down tight to it. I also tied a short piece of throwline to the latch on the cam. There is already a hole in it. Just a tug on the line and it unlatched the cam. Had a ball at Richards yesterday, thanks again Richard and Judi for your great hospitality.

Had my first climb on my new mini SAKA on the weekend and it's great.
I'm going to use a small rubber corner trap for holding the lower biner in place. I'll try a Beal one, but a Petzl one might be nicer as it's designed for webbing.

I cut bands out of old Big Shot tubing. They have a large tool now that I might get. The small stainless one has worked well for years. Don't get the plastic one

I'm copying this from another thread because I think it's useful information.
II hea what you're saying but I want to comment about your "full circle" and "double" remarks. It might look like we've come back to the beginning but it's the improvements in the bungee, at least in my case, that makes all the difference. Unlike cavers, as tree climbers we are often needing to take uneven strides. Assisting with limbs and branches. So the super stretch of this bungee allows more of a DRT configuration. Where as the cavers doubled moving bungee you refer to, could work with lousy recoil or bungee.
In fact, bungee is not even required in that rope walker. Try this, take a piece of cordage and terminate the ends with a loop on each foot. Hold the middle of the cordage in the center of your chest where a pulley would go. Now walk up some stairs one at a time or two at a time. Notice that with nice even steps, the pulley never moves. But skip a step like you were on a limb for a moment and see what happens.
So what makes a 2XSAKAmini different is that it is a DRT/2SRT bungee not a doubled moving bungee and the super stretch of the bungee and adjustability of stride allows better movement for uneven steps.
