I use the petzl ange carabiner to clip into the strap on the clip n step. I often grab a lace but it slides out no problem at all.

I like those too, probably as an upgrade or replacement.

OR would even consider a brass snap of sorts stitched on that lower part of the Saka. Nice smooth nose for on/off

So Mike, is there a particular snap you would like to see sewn into the lower loop on the SAKA?
Breaking strength etc.??? If it did break a biner could always be used to replace.

Well the Petzl Ange is looking pretty darn nice and I have it in my cart to try out. I think the most important point I was making is that something with a smooth nose is going to work best so that it doesn't snag on the webbing or shoe laces.

I got my new foot strap today and is exactly as pictured in Richard's Post. You made it with a heavier duty and smooth webbing this time around. Awesome idea and improvement. And the slot you created should be perfect.

Messin around for the past couple days with a couple different foot straps. Included D rings on the top and a quick release buckle on the stretch webbing around the boot. Just screwin around till i get a bunch of webbing shipped in to play a little more. Gonna attempt to make a smaller version for my son. Wish i had an industrial sewing machine, i'd have all kinds of craziness going on with mods to my saddle & suspenders too. Also made a bunch of stretch webbing with clips just to wrap up some cordage & ropes to keep things a bit neater.

I've been havin some fun with all the stuff hobby shops offer (d rings, crazy little biners, different type dog snaps, buckles with whistles and fire-starter built in). I feel out of place with all the little ole ladies pickin up yarn..

Ive been using a little dog harness for a foot loop. It could be for a cat? Either way it works great, with a strap that goes around the ankle, and one under the arch. It clips together on the top of the foot with a plastic buckel, and has two d rings (one on either side) to clip a biner into. It stays on my foot when not in use, and I often forget to remove it after the job. It cost about a 0.25$ at the thrift store...

I built one that way by request, rope type footloop. Currently the SAKA ships with Metolius FS mini, rated at 22kn.
Don't tell anyone but if you shave the nose off of it it's still rated at 7 K and has nothing to snag on. If you do that make sure that you also buff off the rating of 22 kilonewtons.
