saftey lanyard

The choice of mechanical adjuster or hitch adjuster really can come down to whether you predominately climb conifers or hardwoods. I love the action of my lanyard using a distel hitch w/ micro-pulley slack tender, but I work mostly in PNW conifers, so it gives constant trouble with pitch. It is not a satisfactory solution to replace the cord when it gets fouled as that often happens before you get halfway done with one tree, and the loss of utility ruins the rest of the work in that tree. So most often I use a Petzl macro- or micro-grab. I have also used an Ushba basic ascender as a lanyard adjuster with satisfactory results.

shoulda took it aprt for ya sorry. maybe tommorrow. the cam is 2 pieces bolted together with sunken allen screws that cant back out when the cam is pinned into the housing. its 2 parts so you can put a swiveling eye in it. jacob berquist (sp?) designed this. to move your line you just "thumb" the cam over till your finger hits the housing and you have "neutral" hes got alot of thought into this!

Norm Hall told me that the production model is expected to be on the market in January.

I's like to see it built with an eye that opens. Eliminating the biner/screw link connection to the saddle makes it a shorter unit. This would also eliminate one piece of gear.

Tophopper posted a pic of his Positioner using a twisted shackle to attach to the saddle d-ring. Nice idea :)

Howz Jacob doing, Willie? The double-ender prototype was displayed at the Western Chapter ITCC in Sacramento a coupla years back. The swivel sounds like a neat trick.
