Safety and Training Specialist

Summary:

Safety & Training Specialists will be responsible for performing remote work to include development of written programs, document review, curriculum review and development, as well as production of client deliverables to accomplish business objectives. Additionally, this position serves as a Safety Professional during in-field site safety work and/or a Trainer/ Instructor during in-person or virtual trainings.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Assist with curriculum development and the review process.
  • Assist with development and review of written programs to include, but not limited to, technical reports, safety audits, competency assessments and policies and procedures to meet client needs.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual training courses in alignment with NATS curriculum, industry best practices, and all federal, state, local, and national consensus standards as applicable.
  • Support site safety line of business in compliance with vegetation management program scope and contract adherence to applicable Federal OSHA, state OSHA, and national consensus standards as well as NATS policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player in small or large teams to achieve defined business objectives.

  • Must be self-disciplined, with a high level of integrity, trust, and dependability.
  • Must work with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple functions simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
Education and experience and skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ documented work experience in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Forestry, Environmental Science, or other applicable fields of study.
  • Leadership experience preferred (i.e., supervisory position over three or more other people).
  • Work experience to include chainsaw use, climbing and/or aerial lift use, rigging, pruning, and tree cabling and bracing.
  • Familiarity with editing and using presentation applications, specifically PowerPoint or Keynote
  • Familiarity with G Suite applications such as G Mail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and others.
  • Must be available during NATS core business hours.
  • Proficient in data entry, word processing, and other applicable, computer and office skills.
  • Possess expertise and documented training and credentials in applicable subject matter. Current OSHA 30 General Industry or OSHA 30 Construction Industry, Consulting Utility Forester Safety Professional (CUFSP) course and NATS Trainer/Empower the Educator course is required.
  • Current first aid and CPR certification; first aid and CPR certification must be kept current.

Supervisory responsibilities. Provides direct oversight and supervision of one to three people.

Travel. Travel is required for this position. Ability to deploy and perform field work throughout the country.
