Sad news

Wow... For all the times that I met him, I wish I had 100 times more. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for our profession! He was a great person and taught me a lot about what it means to truly be wise. Thank you, Dr. Shigo!

My condolences to Marilyn and the family. A great tree lover will be missed.

Sad news, indeed. Now he has completed his circle of this life.

To see his contribution to the world flow through others is amazing. I did not take the opportunity to meet him in person, but I'm sure I recognize him in those that have.

You that have, and we that have read his works, continue to touch trees-- and touch others-- so they will touch trees. In this way he is certain to live beyond his mortal body in the blood and the sap of our conservation--for generations.

I hope that they don't bury him in a cemetary. I'd think that he would either want to be buried under a freshly planted tree, or have his ashes spread through the woods at his summer home.

It is rare that a person is given so many opportunities to do good in this world.

It its rarer still to have the opportunities bestowed upon a truley wise and gifted person.

It is amazing when that person takes the opportunities, uses the given talents and wisdom, to the benifit the whole world.

Rest in peace with your maker, may she hold you in the palm of her hand.

Tony
