running saw?

I usually shut it down . Saves fuel, reduces noise and air pollution as well. Also, saws like Echo CS3000/3400 pump bar oil at an idle.

i agree with everyone in this thread, shut it off.
as easy as it is to turn on and off, it's a lot harder to do wih missing limbs
as far as your experience equation, i've found that those with the most experience are usually the ones to end up with stupid injuries, not all the time of course, but some people tend to act a little more cavalier and careless with their saws, justifying those actions with the old "i've had a saw in my hand since i was 8" bit.
i always keep a litte fear in me everytime i turn a saw on, just for good measure, lol.
and a lot of other good points were raised as well, smoke in your face and harder to communicate, etc.

Had to move to the back up saw which had a broken kill switch. That meant I had to choke it to shut it off. Then it took 5 or 6 pulls to get it restarted. Shut it off mostly and dealt with difficulties restarting. Occasionally left it running on my hook but wasn't comfortable with it. Got my main saw back the next day back up is now in the shop.
