rope runner pro

Oh alright thanks man i appreciate it. I have no experience with the rrp yet.just spiderjack 3 hh2 and rw2. Figured the xstatic would work the best. Just haven't even used that yet. Just been using velocity and tachyon lately. And i have no experience rope walking either yet. Looking to get into the this coning season. But thanks i heard 16 strands work well with alot of accenders i dont know exactly why yet tho. Maybe tougher hold together better. Like hold there diameter?
16 strands are not a good choice for ascenders. Stick with your 24 strand double braids. You are on a good track. Try some samson hyperclimb or yale focus for your next line. Thank me late. Buy a saka from wesspur. Actually buy everything from wesspur. They deserve it. Though I hear good things about Arbsession and Gap Arborist. Climb hard.

Oh alrights thanks. Its to late it will have to be next time. But just ordered some Samson vortex. Feel thats a good all around rope. And some dragon fly. For srt. My xstatic and tachyon ash are long so i got these at 150. Both theses ropes will be good for the rope runner pro if it dont sell. But thanks for the advice

You should be ok with your picks. Vortex is at the upper size limit of most ascenders but will work. I have a chunk that I will use as a second rope for positioning or traversing.

Yeah thanks. Ive heard of alot of people using vortex with alot of mechanicals. Ive heard nothing but good things. I also have a spar 20ft lanyard of vortex blue. Haven't used it yet tho. But thanks again im happy with my rope slections. Figured id just have different setups on. Ropes so i dont have to switch around my setups and ropes. Been doing that alot lately. But satisfied now.

The RRpro can be a saucy lil' beast, occasionally on descent she likes to suck up my shirt and give me a love nip. This has happened about three times, I need to more careful on her orientation when descending.

I'm trying to imagine how that is happening to you.???
Can't picture in my head.
Well, this makes two of us! As near as I can figure -- So, because the 'horn' faces me, I twist the beast to get it facing either parallel or away from me in order to get a better grip on it to pull down and release it for descent. If the horn is now opposite me, the rope that is feeding into it is nearest me. I always have the cat in a bag hanging from my harness from a utility cord. Sometimes I put the cord between my legs as I descend so that I can better guide the hanging bag around limbs as I descend. When I do this, I am leaning forward as a I descend, looking down into the bag, thinking about the cat and not the descent. I think this is when my shirt gets sucked into the RRpro by the rope feeding into it, and if I descending a little fast, then CHOMP - some flesh as well.

I need to pay more attention to the orientation of the RRpro during descent and also not lean into the rope in order to keep out of harms way.

Yup, gloves get pinched especially with a hitch so I get that.
I descend with my left hand on the beak facing me (normal orientation) and my elbow pointing downward and away to my left the RR.
Therefore my sleeve is too far away to get caught up.
Maybe you have shorter arms and have your elbow closer to the center of your body when descending?
Do you stay clipped in to a tether on decent?
Maybe try changing your bridge length to see if that helps.

Thanks for the advice, I will try all of those things. I don't stay clipped in to the tether on descent. I have an adjustable bridge, and I typically have it at minimum length because most rescues are go up, grab cat, go down. And when this happened, I had the bridge at its minimum length. As long as I am paying attention to the fact this could happen, it won't happen as I am staying far enough away from the RRpro. I just need to build some muscle memory that allows me to automatically do a descent in such a way that it can't happen.

extend bridge so rrp is obove your head, and then run an accessory cord with a bowline around your climb line, above the rrp, to pull down on the bird

all joking aside, I hope you figure it out and stop getting pinched, looks painful
