Rooster next door

If it were me I would talk to your neighbors about your concerns and come to agreement ahead of time of how to proceed if they end of up with an obnoxious rooster. If the neighbors are reasonable folks they will probably be open to your concerns.
The other question is how many fresh eggs a week you will receive.

I don’t like roosters but maybe it’s because live in an area where the properties are small (1/2 acre average).
A neighbor a couple streets over had one. That bird would not stop all day long! Luckily it was close to 250 yds away from my yard...it was faint.

I don’t know how the closer neighbors put up with the noise.
If I lived any closer I wouldn’t hesitate to hop the fence and put a pitchfork through that fuggin thing.

I have several neighbors w/ chickens.

The one directly across the street, got their rooster by mistake. It was "wrongly sexed" by the vendor.
That rooster crowed all day; it also was very aggressive toward the hens; it pecked at them, damaging feathers.
The owners were going to "dispatch" it; but a "stray dog" got to it first.
The rooster crowing across the street never bother me.
A) It was ~400 ft away from my bedroom (far side of the house).
B) I think it maybe something like "what you get used to"; e.g. intercity car traffic, sirens, etc.
C) Do you have problems w/ early morning birds chirping; or frog/toads "peeps" in the spring ?

It's has a lot to do with your acceptance of a sound if it wakes you up or not. Roosters are a peaceful sound compared to the neighbor man curseing at his family or dogs that are shut up too much. It takes a bit to used to something but if it is a "all is well sound" it is not hard to get used to it if you are at peace.

There are 10 floating through this neighbourhood. They come in my yard and kerp noise anytime of day. People feed them. Insanity. They are so annoying.
For many years we had a few flocks of Turkeys running around different area of the island. They all were well fed, and it surprised me at how many generations it took before the coyotes finished them all off. They were well established when I moved here, had annual broods, and last I recall seeing one was bout ten years after moving here

Be thankful no donkeys, in Middle East nothing compares to the cacophony of donkeys at 4:30am...
I told my wife I wanted to get goats to keep the grass down at the property where my shop is. She said no. I told her "I know your big concern is that coyotes will get the goats... But don't worry - donkeys will protect goats from a coyote so we'll get a donkey too. We live 5 miles from the property so we'll barely be able to hear it."

They are sort of cool, and sound tropical. Just don’t have a bench or seat etc underneath a tree that they roost in. Nothing worse than raining peacock droppings whilst entertaining friends...
I pruned a cedrus in a thick fog. Slight damp, BUT I was slipping everywhere in the tree worse than a wet madrone.
Client came out after to complement the job, I mentioned how oddly slippery the tree was and it was like climbing a greased flagpole. “Oh, that’s the peacocks roost tree”
