As I wiped the sweat from my eyes at 2pm today I watched Jesse walk away from our class in Lenexa, KS. With four staff and four students we all had a good time. Jesse partnered up with all; coaching and praising them well. He taught my daughter Erin how to use his Hitch Climber so we taught him how we swing on our three foot tramp-swing.
Before he left we shared ideas on him creating a rec climb opportunity in Phoenix and we hope his acceptance by the Children's Hospital will be a dream comes true for all.
If you like to climb; like to share climbing then you need to share the joy of another special challenged soul when they can be freed from the bonds of gravity. Or maybe they get to see their wheelchair sitting 17 feet below them for the first time.
Anyway I teased him the driving instructions east to McBaine, MO. Along the old train track tail name the Katy Trail is a soy bean field home to the largest BURR in MO. This is serious juicy wood. Last time there, we had to leave our 8 foot tramp on rope and after midnight the teens out for a beer found it.
Peals of laughter and screams of joy!
Some say it was gnarly back in 1804 when Lt. Lewis and Mr. Clark camped beneath. It has a spread that covers over a ¼ acre so he can pitch his tent in the shade real easy.
He is on his way to Cincy, so best wishes to Jesse!
See you at the top, Dan
